Verse energy, chorus energy

A verse and a chorus usually share their chords. What changes is weight: how many notes sound at once, and how high they sit. Density and register are the two levers. Move them and the same loop becomes two different rooms.

One loop, two weights

Both demos are I, V, vi, IV at the same tempo. The verse breaks each chord into a few low notes. The chorus stacks the full chord, doubles the root an octave up, and lands the backbeat.

The lift

Back to back, the way a song does it. Notice the chorus feels like arrival even though not one chord changed.

The levers, named: density (notes at once: broken chord → full stack → doubled stack) and register (where it sits: low → high). Drums are a third lever: the backbeat arriving is half the chorus.
